We Welcome Our Newest Advisory Board Member to NAREN: Dr. Ryan Champeau!

Dr. Champeau was designated as Wisconsin's Principal of the Year in 2009. He retired at the top of his game the same year to open his own consulting firm, Forward Design LLC, assisting schools as a change coach helping them with implementation of transformational strategies. He knows of what he speaks: Ryan was principal of two prominent area high schools for 24 years! Before that he was a high school counselor and a middle school teacher for five years.

Ryan earned his PhD in Urban Education from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a dissertation titled "The Nature of Instructional Leadership in Wisconsin High Schools." He has written many articles, spoken at numerous conferences and conventions, and has been a presenter at the NAREN National Conference several times and never fails to excite attendees.

Ryan has been an adjunct professor at Marian University for 11 years and at UW-Madison for four years, and was a Harvard University School Leaders Academy graduate.

Ryan sees his specialty as helping schools develop relationships that grow the institution as well as the people inside and has an outstanding track record in assuring success for all students — with special emphasis on the at-risk students which he prefers to call "students of promise."

He was an excellent candidate for a NAREN Board post and we are honored to have him accept our invitation.
